What is Preventive Dentistry?

Preventive dentistry is all about stopping dental issues before they begin. It's a proactive approach that combines regular check-ups, cleanings, and patient education, plus early intervention treatments like fluoride and laser therapy to help you achieve and maintain optimal oral health. At Mission Trails Dentistry, we believe that prevention is the best medicine for your smile.

The Benefits of Preventive Dentistry

Early Detection of Issues

Regular check-ups allow us to spot potential problems early, when they're easier and less expensive to treat. This can save you time, money, and discomfort in the long run.

Maintain Overall Health

Good oral health is linked to better overall health. Regular preventive care can help reduce the risk of serious health issues like heart disease and diabetes, keeping your whole body healthier.

Cost-Effective Care

By preventing dental problems or catching them early, preventive dentistry can significantly reduce your long-term dental costs. It's an investment in your future oral health and financial well-being.

Still have a questions?

Give us a call to speak with one of our friendly, knowledgeable team members.

How often should I have a dental check-up?

We generally recommend check-ups annually with your dentist and biannually with your hygienist. However, some patients may need more frequent visits based on their individual oral health needs.

Are dental X-rays safe?

Yes, dental X-rays are very safe. We use digital X-rays, which emit significantly less radiation than traditional X-rays. They're an important tool in detecting issues that aren't visible through a visual exam alone.

How can I prevent cavities between dental visits?

Maintain a good oral hygiene routine by brushing twice daily, flossing once a day, and using an antiseptic mouthwash. Also, try to limit sugary snacks and drinks, and consider using fluoride toothpaste.

As someone who has always struggled with the dentist, Dr. Murry and his team have squashed all my anxiety about getting my teeth worked on. From laying out a plan and communicating High priority to low priority, I have never felt more comfortable going to the dentist. The team is also proactive with pain management, making the experience much more enjoyable. Its more like a 10 out of 10 experience. Thank you!!
